Our 12 Step Cleaning Process
Before we clean your carpet:
1. Please remove all small items such as boxes, magazines, shoes, etc in the areas to be cleaned.
2. Make arrangements for pets and children to be away from the area we are cleaning.
3. Please remove any breakables and items from tables and other furniture that will be moved.
Step 1 - Pre-Inspection
Your carpet cleaning will start with a pre-inspection. We will walk thru your home with you and inspect the areas you want cleaned. We will make notes of areas that you are concerned about and indicate problem areas we notice.
We will let you know at that time what stains you can expect to come out and which stains might be permanent. We will give you an evaluation as to how well we think your carpet will clean up and recommend a cleaning method, (or combination of methods) we think will do the best job. We will proceed with the cleaning job once we have your approval.
If we think it is time to replace your carpet we will also advise you of this. For more information on replacing your carpet and our recommendations click here.
Step 2 - Pre-Vacuum
We will thoroughly vacuum your carpets prior to doing any spotting or cleaning. Vacuuming removes the dry soil that has bonded to your carpet. Removing this dry soil is one of the most important steps in cleaning your carpet. It is also an important step, for you to do correctly and regularly. See our tips on the correct way to vacuum.
Step 3 - Furniture Moving
Sofas, chairs and tables will be carefully moved. Larger pieces, beds, and dressers are left in place. If you want to have the areas under these items cleaned, please have them moved before we arrive at your house. As a general rule you don't need to clean under these items. They don't get the wear from the daily living and you aren't grinding in the dirt by walking on these fibers. If there is a particular areas of concern please let us know.
Step 4 - Pre-Spray and Pre-Spotting
Traffic areas and spots are pretreated. This pretreatment is a special environmentally friendly solution that helps break up the dirt and soil attached to your carpet. Any particular spots like, pets, are also pretreated at this time, to assist in removing the spot and odor.
Step 5 - Pre-Groom
Step 6 & 7- Extract & Rinse
We use a low residue & soap free rinse to extract the loosened soil from your carpet. The low residue rinse leaves your carpet feeling soft and residue free. Residue being left behind in your carpet is what causes the rapid re-soiling some people experience when they clean their carpets by themselves. (Some rental machines shampoos and do it yourself shampoos are formulated to re-soil rapidly.
We generally used what is referred to as a truck mount system (steam cleaning). If you have requested faster drying time or we have recommended the Dry Fast Method, we will clean with a bonnet system. The bonnet system uses an encapsulation system to trap your dirt into the bonnets and away from your carpets. The bonnet sometimes is used to help in areas that you have experienced "wicking", the stain wicks back up to the surface of your carpet.
Certain carpets will also benefit from our rotary cleaning system. These are generally the carpets that have been heavily soiled, usually from pets or not maintaining the carpets as they should be, and need additional help to getting them to look clean.
We have the tools and equipment to give new life to your carpet. We will use what it takes to get your carpet clean.
Step 8 - Post-Spot Treatment
We will check for spots that did not come out during the normal cleaning process and use different spotting solutions to try and remove those spots. Some spots are permanent stains and will not come out and you will have been advised about these. Some spots will require additional work that is beyond our normal cleaning and would be an extra charge to get them out. These spots are generally the red dye spots from koolaid, colored soft drinks, grape juice.
Step 9- Post Grooming
The carpet pile is set in one direction for faster drying and visual appeal.
Step 10- Post Inspection
We will have you walk thru your home and inspect the cleaning job. Please point out any areas of concern that you have. Let us know that you are happy with the work by signing our service receipt.
